Treasure Hunt - Los Angeles California

This treasure hunt was not just a one-time event. Our Guardian Agents are checking and replenishing the treasure as needed. The treasure chest has been stashed and is ready for any Agent Family to discover whenever they have the time and willingness to hunt for it!
Hey Adventure Agent families! Agent Strongman here.
Stashed within a 40 minute drive from LAX, this treasure is on public land. It is accessible for all family members capable of a 3 mile hike from the nearest parking area.
Now, this is not the norm for these treasure hunts… but. Due to the potential confusion that could arise from the multiple different ways to access the trail described in the riddle, I will be giving away the exact starting location of this hunt. Also, our main concern is the safety of Agent families while on these hunts, so we don’t want you hiking the wrong trails in the LA heat.

WARNING: The path to the treasure includes several steep climbs and descents on natural, sandy terrain. Take your time and watch your step to avoid injury. Be prepared for any and all weather conditions! Check the forecast, prep accordingly, and have your wits about you!
Now that you’re aware of the preliminary details, let's get to the good stuff… the riddle!!
Study the riddle closely. Screenshot it, copy it, download it, do what you must! Just be sure you have access to it while you’re on the hunt (there may be stretches of this journey that put you out of cell service).
I will be at the starting point this coming Sunday, September 5th, 2021 from 4-7pm to meet up with Agents and join them on the hunt!

“Since we started off just before sunset, we can confirm for any other agents that you can be parked in the parking lot without issue at least as late as 45 minutes after dark, haha.
Trail is looking good, with some greenery to enjoy before it all turns brown next week. ;) Lots of Agent Peepers (squirrels) skulking about, keeping an eye on things, too. We were delighted to see that an Agent Theo logged a visit a few weeks ago in the AA Log Book. Any other agents are invited to come back for a second time and leave their mark, as well!

Full Los Angeles Riddle
This famous lookout on the hill,
Is the most visited of its kind to still,
Offer travelers entrance for free,
To observe the sky, and all its debris.
It’s the view from the top that draws,
Tourists and locals alike to awe,
But little do they know near this place,
Lies a chest, part of the nationwide chase.
Surrounding Griffith’s view there are hikes,
Don’t be fooled by the other look-alikes,
There is one that will lead you towards,
Not a single, but many rewards.
To receive them you’ll begin near the lot,
At the base of the mountain that’s got,
Enough spots to host many Agents,
None of which do require payments.
Across Fern Dell, through the gate and down,
This trail descends toward the playground,
Big twisty timbers block the sun,
And mark where the many turns have begun.
Up ahead lies an intersection,
Don’t get fooled as to which direction,
Keep left and go up the climb,
Follow the “W” this time.
Switchbacks there are a-plenty,
It’s wise to know just how many,
You’ve passed along the W path,
So keep count or suffer its wrath.
For miscounting will lead you astray,
Causing you and your crew a delay,
It’s the fourth where you must pay attention,
Or suffer a further extension.
Instead of rounding the corner to see,
The Observatory, like you did before three,
Keep straight and look out for,
A pipe, lying above the sandy floor.
Follow it straight and down this route,
Toward the end of your treasure pursuit,
On the left side it will appear,
Behind the vegetation, quite severe.
Tough branches will attempt to deter,
Those frightened by scratches that may occur,
After sifting through the leaves and sticks,
But Agents can handle a few knicks.
Under this sprawling tree you have found,
A treasure that is surely bound,
To add to your memory bank,
As you continue to climb in rank.
