Treasure Hunt - Tucson Arizona

This treasure hunt was not just a one-time event. Our Guardian Agents are checking and replenishing the treasure as needed. The treasure chest has been stashed and is ready for any Agent Family to discover whenever they have the time and willingness to hunt for it!
Hey Adventure Agent families! Agent Strongman here.
Stashed within a 35 minute drive of downtown Tucson (and just over 1 hour from Phoenix), this treasure hunt is on state land. It is accessible for all family members capable of a 2 mile hike from the nearest parking area.
Solve the riddle below to identify the starting location & the trail that leads to the treasure! Please read ALL the details below before planning your adventure.
PLEASE NOTE: Prepare to bring $7 cash (per vehicle or per group of 4) with you to pay for a day-use permit at the park. There are additional fees if you decide to camp or partake in other activities offered at the park. If you plan to just stay for the day and participate in the hunt, you’ll need $7 cash (for 4 humans, add $3 for each additional human past 4).

WARNING: The path to the treasure includes climbs and descents on natural terrain. Take your time and watch your step to avoid injury. Be prepared for any and all weather conditions! BRING LOTS OF WATER. There may not be any available at the park. Check the forecast, prep accordingly, and have your wits about you!

“My partner, son, and I went to the Treasure Hunt at Picacho Peak on Christmas Eve and wanted to update the status for this treasure location. We can confirm it is still active!”

Screenshot it, copy it, download it, do what you must! Just be sure you have access to the riddle while you’re on the hunt (there may be stretches of this journey that put you out of cell service).

A landmark used by many a-traveler,
This peak was the setting, on a few days that were,
Historical events standing the test of time,
Just like the rocks and cacti, seen along the climb.
The Westernmost battle of the American Civil War,
Took place along the route travelled a decade before,
By the 49ers who flocked through in search of the gold,
These Westbound people’s stories, to this day are told.
One can almost feel the history,
Walking along these paths,
Add yourself to the list,
If you dare adventure to find DB’s stash.
At the place where the views are oh so divine,
You’ll look back at this trip,
And send chills down your spine.
For this journey holds some surprises,
I hope you’re ready for,
A trip around Picacho,
To find the treasure, read on more.
Enter the gates and pay your toll,
Then pick a path to start your stroll,
Several options to choose from,
Meaning there is more than one.
No matter how you get to Calloway,
Just watch your step and do obey,
Leave no trace, pack out your trash,
On your climb to find the stash.
Make your way toward the overlook,
Ready the camera, you’ll be glad you took,
A few pics along this trail,
Boulders on all sides, some of a massive scale.
One lies in the middle,
Make your way around,
Left or right doesn’t matter,
Proceed along this ground.
Littered with steps of wood and rock,
You’ll traverse many along this walk,
Keep on pushing toward your prize,
Getting closer as you rise.
Reach the ridgeline for a better view,
On the other side of the hill, lookout for the next clue,
A sharp right leads to the end of the line,
Instead continue straight, cross over the boulder line.
Not much further past,
Just off the beaten path,
A strange cactus points the way,
Directly to payday.
With one arm pointing down, stand near and look around,
Between 3 boulders it is found,
A unique cave in the gap,
Now it’s you who holds the map.
In your mind it’s drawn,
The route to the coins you have gone,
Keep it safe and do not reveal,
To prevent the staging of a steal.
